Chesterfield - from member Albert Arnold: " The most rainfall for the month of June since I have been collecting data at this location (2004). " - [ + + ]

Glen Allen - from Lowell Koontz: " June was the wettest June on record at the Glen Allen station. The 8.35 inches monthly precipitation was a departure of +4.96 inches. The mean temperature of 76.5°F was a +0.2°F departure. Glen Allen had 16 days in June with measurable precipitation which tied for the record and no other months have had more. The Glen Allen station has had 2.30 inches more rain this month than the Richmond International Airport. Glen Allen had 4 days that had at least one inch of rain which is a record for June and none of the months have any more. Thunderstorms have caused varying rainfall amounts over the region. Thunder was heard on eight days during June. The thunderstorm of June 25th was a severe electrical storm that gave 2 close strikes near our house that threw one circuit breaker and it could be a coincidence but one computer’s hard drive failed the same night. June was the third cloudiest since 2009. This fact helped that June had the highest relative humidity average for June caused the month to have the lowest temperature range on record at Glen Allen. The highest temperature for the month was 96°F on the 16th and the lowest temperature was 57 on the 29th. The highest dew point temperature for June was 79.7°F on the 16th which occurred after an afternoon shower following the hottest day of the month. The maximum wind for the month was 35 mph on the 30th from the SSW as a thunderstorm approached the station. This was the second highest high wind gust recorded for June. " - [ + + ]

Richmond - from contributor Lowell Koontz (GAV): " The Richmond International Airport had 6.05 inches of precipitation for June which was +2.12 inch departure. The 6.05 inches of precipitation for June was the tenth wettest June in the past 128 years. The Richmond International Airport reported the mean temperature for June of 77.9°F which was a +2.6°F temperature departure and the eighth hottest since 1897. The Richmond International Airport has had four (2008, 2010, 2011, 2015) of our 7 hottest Junes since 1897. It is also interesting that of the seven hottest Junes four have occurred since 2008. The Airport had eight daily records for the highest or equaled the high minimum temperature and high daily mean temperature.

Highest or equaled the high minimum temperature -
Jun 16th 76°F new record the old record was 75°F in 1981
Jun 19th 74°F tied the old record set in 1984
Jun 21st 75°F tied the old record set in 1913
    Jun 22nd 76°F tied the old record set in 2011, 2000, 1905

Daily mean temperature - Jun 13th 85.0°F tied the old record set in 2010
Jun 6th 87.5°F new record the old record was 86.5°F in 1981.

Jun 23rd 87.5°F tied the old record set in 1999, 1941, and 1901

The highest daily maximum temperature of 100°F on the 23rd. Only 11 years had a higher maximum temperature in June. The average minimum for June was 68.1°F and only two years 1997 and 1900 had a higher minimum average. The lowest daily temperature range for June was 4°F which occurred on June 3rd and the only years in June with less were 1999, 1941 and 1901. June had 18 precipitation days and only two Junes in the past 118 years have had a greater number of measureable precipitation days. From 1880 to the present the 77.92 °F average mean temperature for June makes this June the 8th warmest June in 134 years. " - [ + + ]
