Inauguration of the Blue Bird Gap Farm Arboretum
September 28, 2007 - Hampton, Virginia

The Master Gardeners, Parks and Recreation Department and the Clean City Commission of Hampton send huge thanks to the Virginia Camellia Society and to Larry Barlow personally for helping us get the Camellia Garden inaugurated in the Blue Bird Gap Farm Arboretum.

For the Sept 28 Planting Day, Larry brought 14 air-layered plants to join with three lonely (but healthy) specimens from the spring and four air-layers from the August Workshop at NBG. Larry stayed to help the volunteers plant properly in the airy, pine-shaded area of what had been a pasture six months ago. Hampton Master Gardeners have a lot to learn about camellias, and we're off to a good start with Larry's help.
